Hawaii’s Free Range Cat Sanctuary Is A Cat Lover’s Heaven On Earth

Hawaii is already a Pacific paradise, but the island of Lanai is home to a place that may have the beautiful beaches and volcanoes beat for cat lovers. The Lanai Cat Sanctuary is a 25,000-square-foot outdoor haven for about 500 rescue kitties. And the not-for-profit sanctuary provides them with a home for the rest of their lives.

Of course, the goal is to find a loving forever home for every cat they have. But these cats can rest easy knowing that even if they aren’t adopted, they have lifelong care. With visitation hours for the public from 10am to 3pm every day, visitors are encouraged to take home any kitty they form a bond with. All adoption fees are waived.

The cats are all provided with food, shelter, and medical care if needed, and the whole operation is supported by donations from visitors and online donors. They also have a program called “Adopt In Place” for people who can’t take a kitty home. It lets people make a monthly donation and get updates on their cat. But I personally can’t wait to visit the Lanai Cat Sanctuary in person! Just as soon as I can make it out to Hawaii. Well, I can dream, can’t I?
