The cat, who was rescued by Verizon workers last week, is now part of a Farmingdale family. Lisa Kelly, 49, who beat out dozens of applicants to adopt the cat, has rescued cats before. She has twin 16-year-old daughters.

“We were so excited when we got the call,” Kelly told NYDailyNews.com. “I thought [Fios] was going to be traumatized but he was lovable from the minute we saw him; the first thing we are going to do is fatten him up!”

Fios was found starving and stranded in a tree last week, with a cord tied around his neck. Verizon workers plucked the feline from the tree and cut the cord; one of the rescuers claimed the cord was choking the animal.
