John Ash, from Christchurch, New Zealand shared the moving story of his Bernese Mountain dog named Deog and her new feline friend, a rescue cat named Ceat on Reddit. The dog had been grieving the loss of her best friend Mao, a Siamese cat. After the owner rescued Ceat from a local community of abandoned cats, his dog found her solace.

In the video shared by Ash on Reddit, he walks into the bedroom to find Deog and Ceat snuggled up on the bed. Deog is seen resting her face on Ceat. This video received 25,000 upvotes, with Redditors wanting to know more about the new duo.

In an interview with Newsweek, Ash revealed the heartbreaking story behind Mao’s loss. He also opened up about Deog’s connection with the late feeling. He said, “Deog grew up with a Siamese cat, they were completely inseparable.” The owner further revealed that they lost Mao due to a car accident. Eventually, he expressed that Deog and Ceat “decided to adopt each other.”

Meanwhile, Ash spoke about the bond between Deog and Ceat. He revealed that the two “were drawn to each other immediately.” Although Ceat was scared of everything, the feline found comfort in Deog’s company.

Recalling how the family came to adopt Ceat, the owner continued, “Deog misses her friend and has been treating Ceat like she did Mao. The other night I couldn’t find either animal and walked into this situation, we knew we couldn’t rehome Ceat so we signed the adoption papers that night.”

Meanwhile, Ceat came from a colony of cats living in an earthquake-damaged building. As per Newsweek, the family fostered the cat through a no-kill organization. Ash has his own YouTube channel, Deog and Co, where he shares the daily lives of his pets.
