Cat Has an Unexpected Reaction to New Squirrel Toy in Video

An adorable video of a rescue cat treating a new squirrel toy as her baby has captured the hearts of TikTok users. User Faith Poschwatta shared the heartfelt video on the platform, amassing over 10,000 likes. The rescue cat’s tendency to form an attachment with the toy shows the deep emotions animals exhibit, even if it means connecting with an inanimate object.

Cat treats new toy like ‘her baby’ in cute video

Cats are famous for their impish behavior, but a rescue cat’s winsome video shows her treating a toy like her “baby.” The black-and-white feline gently interacts with the plush squirrel, feeding it food and water. Perfectly encapsulating the heartwarming scene, the caption affirms, “She would be sucha good mom.” Simultaneously, the video’s on-screen text explains its sweet backstory.

The overlay text clarifies, “I got my rescue cat a new toy squirrel yesterday.” A unique experience for the creator, the text continues, “This is the first toy she’s ever treated like a baby.” It adds, “I just looked over to her trying to share her food and water with it,” further attesting to the incident. Capturing the cat as she nurtures her “baby,” the rescue pet’s tender reaction has made quite an impact on the viewers.

The clip begins with the rescue cat sitting on a windowsill, wearing a pink collar around its neck. Sitting close to her food and water bowls, she fiddles with her squirrel toy. The cat then pushes the toy into her bowl with her paw and tried feeding her like it were her kitten. It seems her maternal instincts kicked in as she positioned herself as she took care of her “baby.”

Acting like a protective mother, the cat watches over the toy with affection. Towards the end of the clip, the toy appears slightly soaked in the cat’s bowl. This implies that the cat was trying to share her food and water with the toy. While a TikTok user gushes that the cat is “so pretty,” others share their own experiences with pets. One user wrote, “My baby boy does that with his favorite toys,” and added, “Feeds and waters them.”

It may seem unusual for a cat to form an emotional bond with a toy. Yet, many felines tend to attach to specific objects that comfort them. Additionally, it is not uncommon for cats to act as surrogate mothers if they have previously given birth. Nevertheless, her video is a reminder of the large well of emotions that animals are capable of harboring.
