Video: Owner Documents Cat Growing up Alongside Sibling

Think about the last time you looked at an old photo of your cat and felt personally attacked by how small they used to be. Pets have a way of growing up fast while we’re busy going about our daily routines. You don’t notice it in real time, but suddenly it’s undeniable. That realization sits at the center of a touching video that documents one cat growing up alongside a sibling.

Owner captures cat’s growing-up journey with sibling in emotional video

A recent video shared by the account @sukiandgoku shows two cats, Suki and Goku, and the subtle passage of time between their kittenhood and adulthood. The clip opens with the siblings lounging together on a bed, relaxed and comfortable in each other’s presence. Onscreen text poses a familiar question many pet parents hear: “And when people ask, ‘Who is older?’”

From there, the video moves through a series of everyday moments. Suki and Goku are shown playing together, curled up for naps, and sitting side by side while watching birds through a window. These scenes feel ordinary at first glance, but they quietly establish how closely bonded the two cats are.

As the video continues, the text reads, “It is kind of strange because…” before cutting to an older clip from when they were much younger. In that moment, Suki appears noticeably larger, while Goku is shown as a much smaller kitten sitting beside her in a stroller. The final line, “…it used to be so obvious,” highlights the emotional point of the video. While one cat was clearly older and bigger at the start, time has evened out those differences. Now fully grown, Suki and Goku look nearly the same size, making it harder to tell who’s older at a glance.

Beyond the emotional impact, the video also subtly conveys the benefits of raising kittens in pairs. Growing up with a sibling or companion can help kittens develop better social skills, reduce anxiety, and provide constant stimulation through play and interaction. Paired kittens often learn boundaries more easily and are less likely to develop behavioral issues linked to loneliness or boredom. Having a built-in playmate also helps burn off excess energy, which can lead to calmer behavior as they grow older.
