Hilary Duff Adopts Kitten Rescued During Deadly LA Fire

Actress Hilary Duff and her family have adopted a small kitten who found herself in dire straits during the recent Eaton Fire in Los Angeles. The announcement came via Duff’s Instagram, where she shared the touching story of the kitten’s rescue and adoption.

Hilary Duff and her husband, Matthew Koma, have always been known for their kind-heartedness, and their latest gesture only reinforces this reputation. The couple recently took to Instagram to announce that they had adopted a kitten named Jinkx Pawnsoon. In the story, Koma was seen holding the tiny kitten and expressing gratitude to the Pasadena-based nonprofit — Feline Lifeline — for the rescue.

Jinkx’s journey to her new home began in a parking lot at Trader Joe’s. As per the organization, they found her by a feeder as the fierce winds of the fire threatened the area. Described as “friendly and affectionate,” Jinkx came running out of nearby brush, seemingly pleading for help. According to PEOPLE, the dedicated volunteers at Feline Lifeline ensured her safety. They also provided the kitten with necessary medical care, including vaccinations, microchipping, flea treatments, deworming, and testing for feline diseases before she found her forever home with Duff and Koma.

Feline Lifeline shared the news of Jinkx’s adoption on social media. “UPDATE: Jinkx has been adopted! Jinkxy girl, have the best life with @hilaryduff and @matthewkoma,” the post read. This adoption marks the second time Duff’s family has welcomed a feline companion. Jinkx has now joined their other cat, Moon, who was adopted last year. With their newest addition, Duff and Koma’s home is even livelier.

Beyond their love for Jinkx, the couple’s commitment to providing a safe haven goes even further. During the fires, Duff and Koma also provided shelter to actor Mandy Moore’s family, who were affected by the disaster.
