Foster Kitten’s Bedtime Routine Will Melt Your Heart

There’s a certain responsibility that comes with caring for animals who haven’t had the best start in life. Apart from meeting basic needs, it’s also important to create a sense of safety through routine and gentle care. Even the smallest habits can make a noticeable difference in how quickly they settle in. That said, a recent video showcases this through the carefully managed bedtime routine of one foster kitten.

Foster kitten polishes off food in adorable video

The clip, posted by Mallory Brooks (@malpluscats), introduces viewers to a tiny foster kitten named Cigarette, or “Ciggy” for short. Brooks begins by noting she has had him for just over 23 hours, but despite the short time, the kitten already appears comfortable and attached to her.

The video opens on a lighthearted note, with Ciggy perched on Brooks’ head. From there, she explains that she rescued him from an animal hoarding situation, where conditions were far from ideal. According to Brooks, the environment smelled strongly of cigarettes, which inspired the kitten’s unusual name. She also shares that he had been fed expired evaporated milk, raising concerns about his early care.

As part of his new routine, Brooks introduces proper feeding, and one of the most engaging moments in the video shows Ciggy trying a tube treat for the first time. The kitten eagerly devours it, gripping the tube with his tiny paw as if determined not to let it slip away.

The routine then shifts to bedtime preparation. Brooks gently places the kitten inside a sock, using it as a makeshift wrap to keep him warm and secure. The small bundle moves slightly as she asks if he wants his paws out, and the moment is played for humor as he appears to respond. Soon after, Ciggy is nestled against her neck, relaxing into the warmth.

As the video progresses, his energy fades. His eyes slowly close while Brooks pets him, signaling the end of a long day and the beginning of a safer, more stable life. In the caption, Brooks notes that she is fostering him independently. She also adds that Ciggy won’t be ready for adoption for at least five weeks.
