Owner Makes Cat’s Whisker Into an Antenna in Hilarious Video

Cat owners have a special gift for turning the most random pet moments into works of comedic genius. Whether it’s recording their cat’s adventures like a National Geographic documentary or assigning dramatic inner monologues to every slow blink, there’s no shortage of creativity. So when one cat owner found a single, shed whisker on the floor, the only logical response was to turn it into an antenna, complete with a dramatic soundtrack and an even more dramatic caption.

Video of cat getting an antenna leaves the internet in splits

A now-viral video posted by Instagram user @mibicket features a black and white “cow cat” sitting calmly while her owner turns a shed whisker into something much more entertaining. The clip starts with the cat’s whisker spotted on the ground. Instead of tossing it aside, the owner picks it up and sticks it upright on the top of the cat’s head, making it look exactly like a single antenna sticking out of her skull.

To amp up the drama, the owner adds an epic orchestral piece in the background: “The Lion King Orchestra Suite (Live)” performed by Hans Zimmer, Pedro Eustache, and others. The scene, paired with the cinematic music, feels like a strangely important ritual. An on-screen caption reads, “it must be done every time,” while the reel itself is captioned, “the prophecy must be fulfilled.”

Meanwhile, the cat appears completely unbothered — staring off into space, totally unaware of her newfound role as some kind of furry satellite. Moreover, her blank expression, which only adds to the humor, makes commentators crack some funny jokes. One person wrote, “Well she needs to be able to pick up the signal so her brain works,” while another wrote, “Absolutely no thoughts behind those beautiful eyes.” Someone else asked, “Plz tell me you collect them too,” and the owner confessed, “IN A JAR ON MY DESK YES.”

For anyone wondering — yes, it’s completely normal for cats to occasionally shed their whiskers. Just like fur, whiskers naturally fall out and grow back over time. These long, stiff hairs, also known as vibrissae, serve an important function in helping cats navigate their environment. While losing one or two whiskers isn’t harmful, it’s important not to trim or pluck them, as doing so can disorient the cat.
