The account documents the work of a group of women dedicated to rescuing cats in need across Sydney, giving vulnerable felines the care they need to start a new chapter.

In the Instagram video, rescue cat Penelope shares a meaningful message for humans after being abandoned by her family. Her owners moved away and left her behind, but the heartbroken feline continued waiting outside the house, seemingly hoping they would return. Thankfully, the Safe Paws team rescued Penelope and gave her the food, care, and affection she desperately needed.
The team later provided an update on Penelope, revealing how difficult the ordeal had been for the senior cat. They said they were heartbroken to see the fur baby “confused, distressed, and still looking toward” the house.
They also revealed that Penelope “was very distraught and spent the first couple of days meowing lots due to distress.” While her owners had moved on, Penelope remained behind, waiting for the people she trusted to come back. She is now receiving much-needed medical care and “getting a dental clean and polish for her tartar, alongside an endless supply of snug.”
Along with thanking everyone who donated toward Penelope’s care, the rescuers shared a heartfelt message on her behalf, urging people not to abandon pets when circumstances become difficult. “Circumstances change. Homes change. Relationships change. Life can fall apart unexpectedly — but abandoning an animal who depends entirely on you should never be the answer,” the message read.
With the Safe Paws team now caring for her, Penelope has a chance to leave her painful past behind and, hopefully, find a loving forever home.
