The five-month-old black shelter cat, who has spent nearly her entire life growing up there, melts hearts in a touching video that shows her eagerly climbing onto a volunteer’s shoulder, rubbing against her face, and soaking up every bit of affection she can get. The Humane Society hopes the sweet youngster’s loving personality will finally help her find the forever home she’s been waiting for.
Shelter cat is just a kitten waiting for a loving home to get adopted into
The video begins with a shelter worker opening Jinx’s kennel while text on the screen reads, “Our shelter’s sweetest kitty!” Instead of hesitating, the tiny black kitten immediately steps forward, carefully climbing out of her enclosure and onto the top of the kennel. Within seconds, she stretches toward the volunteer, reaches out with her paws, and climbs directly onto the woman’s shoulder. Jinx nuzzles into her face, rubs against her glasses, and settles comfortably across her shoulders as if she belongs there.
The affectionate kitten continues to rub her head against the volunteer, happily accepting pets and cuddles. Another caption introduces her as “5-month-old Jinx,” before the video ends with the simple message, “All she wants is love…” According to the shelter, Jinx arrived as a tiny kitten and has spent most of her young life growing up at the Humane Society while many other kittens have already found families.
Despite waiting longer than expected, staff describe her as everything someone could want in a young cat. She is curious, playful, affectionate, and constantly looking for attention. She enjoys being held, loves exploring her surroundings, and has enough personality to keep her future family laughing every day. Shelter workers also say Jinx has a habit of climbing onto people’s shoulders “like a parrot,” making sure she stays as close to them as possible.
The video touched animal lovers, many of whom couldn’t understand how such an affectionate kitten was still waiting for a family. One viewer wrote, “Oh Baby Jinx you’re absolutely perfect!” Another commented, “Oh, I love a black kitty. They are the best!” Another person shared, “Both of my black cats were the most loving and loyal of all the cats I’ve had.”
