Catnip comes in many forms, including dried catnip, fresh catnip plants, and various gels that can you can administer to your cat.

With dried catnip, you can sprinkle some on your cat’s favorite sleeping spot or cardboard toy. In some cases, rubbing the dried catnip between your fingers can help make it smell more appealing to your kitty.

If your cat prefers fresh catnip, you can leave a catnip plant out for them to snack on at their will. You can easily grow catnip yourself.

While catnip is generally safe for cats, too much can result in a few unwanted side effects. Some of the most common side effects include vomiting, diarrhea, and upset stomach. Keep an eye on your kitty if this is their first time trying catnip.

And did you know some cats don’t react to catnip at all? Luckily for those felines, there are a few catnip alternatives that you can try. They include valerian, silver vine, cat grass, cat thyme, or tartarian honeysuckle sawdust.

All of these alternatives have their pros and cons, so read all about them here!
