Cat Miraculously Survives After Being Shot By Arrow in Philadelphia

Last month, the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) posted images of a cat shot by an arrow in Philadelphia. The calico kitty had been shot by someone in an act of animal abuse. Fortunately, the feline was saved by a Good Samaritan and rushed to the PSPCA. The surgeons did a phenomenal job patching up the cat, who is now on her road to recovery.

PSPCA investigation underway after cat found injured by arrow in Philadelphia

The cat named Kimiko, who was shot by a bow and arrow, was part of a cat colony in Philadelphia. The colony had a caretaker who frequently visited to feed the felines. One day, while on their way to provide some food to the cats, they stumbled across Kimiko sitting in her usual spot. However, she had an arrow jutting out of her right thigh.

The feline’s name represents new and promising beginnings, which the staff members hope is in store for her. Kimiko was rushed into surgery upon arrival, with two surgeons operating on her simultaneously. They removed the arrow that had been lodged in her leg for hours and tended to her other wounds.

Kimiko’s name also means “beautiful,” with the staff stating in an Instagram post that the calico was a beautiful kitty. The best part is that Kimiko doesn’t seem to have developed a distrust for humans after her ordeal. She still has a loving and sweet personality.

Had the cat shot by an arrow not been found by the Philadelphia colony’s caretaker, Kimiko would have suffered a slow and painful death. The arrow had just missed her bones, but it was still lodged quite deep. PSPCA’s Nicole Wilson told the New York Post, “This person severely injured this cat. We don’t know that an individual who would make that choice wouldn’t make the next choice of potentially injuring a person.”

The case is now under investigation, with PSPCA’s Animal Law Enforcement seeking information from the public. One can call the cruelty hotline and also leave tips anonymously.
