This shy cat is one of the longest-standing residents at the shelter and eagerly awaits adoption: Meet Princess, a six-year-old Tortie who has never really been given a fair chance. The shelter shared that she was adopted once but was returned soon after. Princess is extremely shy, and while she is close to her feline friends and very affectionate, she takes time to open up.
She has watched her friends get adopted and find their forever homes while she has quietly stayed behind, hoping that one day she, too, will begin a new journey with people who will never abandon her.
‘Shy’ shelter cat has become the longest resident and is still waiting for a loving family
This shelter cat is one of the longest residents and is extremely shy. The clip was shared by Southampton Animal Shelter’s official Instagram page. It features a six-year-old Tortie named Princess. She stayed at the shelter for a long time, watching families adopt her other furry friends.
Princess, too, was adopted once. The shelter staff was hopeful that it would finally be a new beginning for her. However, before she could settle into her new surroundings, she was returned to the shelter.
Apparently, she is very shy and takes her own time to open up. Plus, she has never had the opportunity to feel safe enough to truly be herself and show how warm, friendly, and affectionate she can be.
Princess spends a lot of her time with her feline friends, Licorice, Moose, and Maui. Whenever she feels low, they are there to comfort her. The shelter shared that it would be best for Princess if she could be adopted with one of her friends. Since they find solace in each other, having a familiar companion by her side could make the transition much easier as she begins the next chapter of her life.
She doesn’t need someone who expects her to become confident instantly. She needs someone patient enough to let her come out of her shell at her own pace. Viewers flooded the comments section with support for the cat, with many hoping that she finds her forever family soon.
