Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat Choupette Didn’t Want to Be Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Date

Kim Kardashian did not pass the vibe test from Karl Lagerfeld’s pampered cat Choupette. The famous feline did everything she could to dissuade Kardashian from taking her to the Met Gala as Kardashian’s date. The shocking interaction between the two divas is now streaming in the season four, episode five installment of “The Kardashians” on Hulu.

Kim Kardashian tried to befriend famous feline

According to the Daily Mail, 42-year-old Kardashian was planning to take Choupette (which means “sweetie”) as her plus-one for the Met Gala. The 2023 theme for the biggest fashion event of the year was Karl Lagerfeld. The German fashion designed died in 2019, leaving an unbelievable $1.5 million to his white Birman cat in his will.

Kardashian thought walking the red carpet with Lagerfeld’s cat would be the perfect way to honor the fashion icon. The only problem is she didn’t consider Choupette’s feelings on the matter before jetting off to meet the fur ball. As seen in the reality series, Kardashian took some time out of a family soccer trip to London and Paris to visit with the cat.

“I want to spend some time with her, get to know her, and just see if we vibe,” Kim said in a talking-head confessional.

In what appeared to be a hotel room, Kim joined Lucas Berullier, the cat’s agent (yes, you read that right), and Françoise Caçote, Choupette’s so-called “caregiver.”

“Guys, is this cat gonna like me?” Kim asked. “I literally feel like I’m going on a blind date.”

Choupette emerged from a Louis Vuitton cat carrier while Kardashian gushed in her confessional.

“I did my first fashion shoot ever when North was in my belly, with Karl Lagerfeld shooting it and we shot a few times after,” Kardashian said. “I mean, he’s a legend, and I get what an honor it is to bring his baby Choupette.”

Kardashian sat on a couch and Caçote placed the cat next to her. The reality star said, “Hi, baby,” and gently petted the cat.

“What a beautiful cat,” Kardashian remarked.

But soon, Choupette turned her head and started hissing at Kardashian.

“Don’t worry, she won’t do anything to you,” someone said off-camera.

Kardashian tried to laugh it off, saying, “Oh it’s OK, I act like that sometimes too.”

Karl Lagerfeld’s cat is not a Kardashian fan

Time passed, but Choupette didn’t warm up to SKIMS founder.

“She is feisty,” Kim said as Choupette continued to give her “back off” body language.

“Choupette is really key to my whole vibe for the Met this year, so if we don’t vibe, I don’t know what I’m gonna do. I just hope she warms up to me…cause this wouldn’t be cute.”

To Kardashian’s credit, she did keep trying to win Choupette over. But the cat wasn’t having any of it.

“She’s not the biggest cuddler,” Choupette’s agent reassured Kardashian.

And yet, Choupette’s team allowed Kardashian to pick up the cat. That’s when things got really dicey. Choupette swiped at Kardashian. Finally, the fashion mogul relented.

“So I’m getting a little bit nervous and I think I just fully wanna pivot,” Kardashian said in the confessional. “There’s so many factors I think could be negative, especially with the cameras and the people.”

She acknowledged that Choupette was likely afraid, though whether the cat feared the cameras or Kardashian is up for interpretation. Either way, Kardashian concluded that the situation wasn’t “fair” to Choupette.

“I realized really quickly that, Choupette, we’re not a match, so I’m not bringing her to the Met,” Kardashian said.

Instead, Kardashian took her daughter, North West, as her date to the 2023 Met Gala. However, Jared Leto and Doja Cat both attended the fete in looks inspired by Choupette.
