A video posted to the Instagram account @miss_ivycat shows a cat named Olive exploring her latest toy — a foldable Montessori slide, which her owner bought from Amazon. The video captures Olive’s playful curiosity as she tries to figure out exactly how the slide works. At first, she approaches it the wrong way, climbing up the front before slipping and sliding back down. But after a few tries, she figures it out, getting the hang of sliding down like a pro.
To make things more fun, Olive’s owner later removes a teaser toy to encourage her to explore the slide more freely. From there, Olive fully embraces the experience, confidently zooming around and playing with the slide like it’s her new favorite thing. In a reply to a comment, the owner explained how Olive’s playful energy reminded them of dog agility courses. “She zooms around so well it reminded me of those dog agility courses,” the owner said, “and it just naturally progressed to this.” The slide gives Olive a new way to burn off energy, and based on the video, she’s loving every second of it.
The wholesome clip quickly caught the attention of cat lovers on Instagram, who couldn’t get enough of Olive’s antics. Many found the setup amusing and said it gave them ideas for spoiling their own pets. “Spend your entire paycheck on your cat. Just do it,” one commenter joked. Another added, “That’s the cutest! Why not? Cats like to slide too.” Meanwhile, others chimed in with their own experiences of buying toys or furniture for their pets, only to be surprised by what actually sticks.
As far as the internet is concerned, Olive has made a strong case for making slides a new staple in feline playtime.
