Video: Cat’s Method of Waking up Owner Has Netizens Baffled for a Reason

If you are a cat owner, you are probably familiar with your pet’s ways of getting attention, especially when it is time for you to wake up. Many felines tend to be more forceful in the mornings by pawing at their human’s face or meowing loudly. However, not all cats are the same. One viral video has put a new spin on the classic “wake-up call,” showing a cat’s surprisingly gentle and affectionate interaction as she rouses her owner from sleep.

Cat is unusually calm while waking up owner contrary to netizens’ experiences

In a video shared by the Instagram account @gabmarygrasso, the owner captures an unusually soft and serene interaction with her cat as she tries to wake her up. Unlike the typical cats that demand attention with loud meowing or pawing, this feline takes a more gentle approach.

The cat starts by rubbing her head against her owner’s face, purring softly. She then nuzzles her head into her owner’s head, making cute chirpy noises, as if trying to coax her awake in the most relaxed way possible. And if that wasn’t enough, she also licks her owner’s hand, completing the morning wake-up routine with a little grooming session.

The onscreen text reads, “Sleeping in? Never heard of her because this is my cat trying to wake me up every morning.” The video quickly went viral, amassing over 5.3 million views and an impressive 616K likes as viewers marveled at how unusually calm the cat was compared to their own furry companions.

Many netizens commented with stories of their own cats’ far more boisterous ways of waking them up. One commenter wrote, “oh that’s nice mine screams at me.” Another user shared, “And once you’re awake they go back to sleep,” joking about how cats often seem to want their owners up only to go back to their own slumber. Others could not help but laugh at their own cats’ more extreme tactics, with one commenting, “It’s so gentle. Mine nose dives off the highest piece of furniture directly onto my forehead.”
