Pet parents wish for nothing more than an unbreakable bond when they adopt their furry companion. In a viral video from earlier this month, an owner showcased the beautiful bond he had with his adopted cat right off the bat. The adorable feline clung to the man as he drove home, even going ahead and falling asleep on his shoulders at one point.
In addition, their meeting seemed to be fated, as the pet parent was on the lookout for a new furry friend after his previous cat passed away. And the first feline he came across happened to be the Persian kitten, Eddy.
Owner adopts new cat to take on adventures after late feline passes away
Peter Mairhofer recently took to Instagram to share his almost miraculous adoption story. The video captured the owner bringing home his adopted cat for the very first time. The short clip has now gone viral, garnering more than 4.7 million views and 284K likes. Netizens couldn’t get enough of the adorable Instagram Reel, where the Persian kitten clung to his new parent’s shoulders as he drove back home.
Mairhofer noted in the caption that the duo’s chance encounter was almost fated. He recalled that after losing his late cat in June last year, he was left heartbroken for quite some time. The feline, Billy, had been with him for about 18 years. A life without him felt almost empty to the model. However, after giving it much thought, he realized that Billy would want his dad to have another pet to keep him company.
When he finally started looking for cats that were up for adoption, the first one he came across was a Persian kitten. Mairhofer stated that he was almost “hypnotized” by how cute Eddy was. The feline was scheduled to go to another forever home when he came of age. However, as destiny would have it, when the time came to bring him home, the other individual was a no-show.
In the video’s caption, the owner recalled that their first meeting was magical. Eddy ran to him as soon as they met. Moreover, when the pet parent hugged him, he noted that it almost felt like “a friend that I haven’t seen for a lifetime.” The kitten also didn’t leave his shoulders till they reached home. He wrapped up the touching adoption story, stating, “We already have a connection that I can’t describe.”
