Two very patient cats have become the stars of an amusing Instagram video after their owner decided to run a “petting limit” experiment. And the results? Funny and surprisingly impressive. Instagram user and the cats’ owner, @porkybellyandjim, shared the video in which he pets Porky and Jim nonstop until each cat finally gets up and walks away. Both cats’ patience levels are impressive, but one outshines the other.
Owner tests two ‘tolerant’ cats’ petting limits with results in video
The video begins with the owner narrating, “Jim and Porky are the most tolerant cats in the world. Today, let’s find out what their pet limit is,” while he holds a cat up in his arms.
First up is Porky, who settles comfortably into a small bed and immediately melts into the attention his owner gives him. While receiving pets, he even pauses for a big stretch halfway through, clearly enjoying the session — and it takes him 107 pets for Porky to decide he has had enough and gets up. The next shot shows him grooming himself with the playful caption, “gotta clean the dirty human germs.”
Then it’s Jim’s turn. The owner starts the pet count again, and this time, he builds toward triple digits. As Jim sinks deeper into relaxation and almost reaches a hundred pets, the narrator jokes, “We’ve reached our flow state fr,” staying put far longer than expected. In fact, he only started to look over the whole thing around 126 pets. Even then, he holds out until an impressive 176 pets before finally getting up and leaving.
Cats often tolerate petting differently depending on their mood, energy, and personality. Some enjoy long petting sessions, while others prefer quick interactions — and many cats walk away not because they dislike the affection, but because they naturally reach a point of overstimulation. And we get it.
The cats’ calm dispositions and patience with their owner made the video a hit while proving that these two might truly be among the internet’s most tolerant cats.
