Video: Cat Loses His Blanket but It’s Right Next to Him

Gremlin Georgie, an orange cat with big feelings, has one priority: his blankie. And in a hilarious video from @gremlingeorgie, the cat somehow “loses” the blanket and follows his owner around for her to find it — all while it’s basically behind him the whole time. In Georgie’s world, the blankie isn’t just a blanket. To him, it is a necessity, so he demands that customer service must remain available, and understandably so.

Cat loses blanket momentarily and complains to owner in video

The Instagram video opens with the cat right at his owner’s feet, meowing to report his missing blanket. It’s clearly an emergency. His owner asks, “What do you need?” Georgie keeps complaining, prompting her to troubleshoot and de-escalate the situation — but first, she tells him, “No, those are my pants on my legs.”

The cat continues meowing, and the owner starts walking, asking, “What’s going on?” Georgie follows her around, and at one point, she laughs and says, “I need to tell you something,” as if the cat called a meeting and he is finally ready to hear the agenda.

Then comes the reveal: the blanket sits right behind him. Hence, the owner announces, “Your blanket is literally right there,” picking it up, still laughing, and confirming, “It’s right here.”

The video then shows the cat reaching out with his paws to grab it mid-air, and the second the blanket lands in his possession, the drama immediately ceases. He stops meowing and paying attention to his owner completely, as if he did not follow her like a tiny, yelling shadow just seconds earlier.

The post caption jokes, “He’d be the type of human who loses his sunglasses that are on top of his head,” which sounds about right for Georgie.

Viewers had theories for the cat’s behavior. One comment said, “The issue today was the blankie was too neatly folded for him to see,” while another wrote, “He needed it unfolded for him.” A third viewer nailed Georgie’s energy with, “One brain cell couldn’t cope with the situation.”
