Video: Cat Is Not At All Okay With Being Teased

If you want a lesson in boundaries, Cookie the cat’s video is here for you, but the only condition is that you do not tease her. The hilarious Instagram video from @cookie_paws1 showed the cat having a perfect nap, with her belly up and fully committed to doing absolutely nothing. Then her owner made the mistake of poking a toe bean.

Cat reacts to being teased in cute video

In the video, the cat lies on her back on a green couch, looking like a fluffy little cloud with a tail, seemingly half-asleep and totally relaxed — all until she is lightly teased. It is safe to say the cat does not like it.

Cookie’s reaction comes in stages — first, she freezes, turning her head and locking eyes with her owner in a side eye. All seems calm, but after a few long seconds of that intense stare, Cookie snaps out an annoyed little warning — part growl, part “excuse me?” — and jerks her body like she needs to physically shake off the disrespect. Then she turns away dramatically while letting out a groan that basically says, “I cannot believe I live here.”

The video’s caption sums up the lesson, reading, “Don’t tease her ?.” And if you live with a cat, you might know this behavior all too well — cats can feel extra sensitive about their paws, and some of them hate surprise touches when they are sleepy. Cookie did not panic, but she did set a firm boundary and then acted as if she had to emotionally recover from it.

Viewers loved the attitude and the perfectly timed outrage. One comment joked, “Defying queen’s order..Don’t touch me…??”. Another noted the cuteness factor, writing, “Double tap if you’re in love ?❤️.” One commenter then demanded more Cookie content, saying, “Give it to me❤️.”

Cookie may look soft and cuddly, but you must respect her boundaries. And to her owner, her message is as simple as it gets. It conveys the need to admire the toe beans with your eyes, not your fingers, especially when she is sleepy.
