Cat parents know better than to spend a fortune on furniture, because it will be destroyed eventually. It is just a fact of life when you live with a feline. Over at @a_cat_called_donut, a new video proves that house rules do not apply to cats or sofas. Pancake the cat has decided that the armrest is his personal playground. His dad, Liam, is trying to be firm. But Pancake is not having it. He is literally talking back with his paws while his mom, Petra, films the whole standoff.
Cat ‘s reaction to being told no repeatedly is priceless
When the video opens, we see Dad leaning over the sofa armrest and trying to be firm with the cat. “No Pancake… get off man,” he says. But Pancake just jumps up to swat at him. And then he starts stomping on the side of the seat. It’s like he’s trying to double down.
He rolls onto the floor and starts shredding the front of the sofa. He looks right at the camera with this super bold face. Mom is filming the whole mess from the other side. “I’m not sure what Pancake likes more… destroying our sofa or breaking the 4th wall,” the caption says.
Liam calls him a “Goblin” because he keeps peeking from behind the furniture. Every time he gets pulled away, Pancake just lunges back. It’s like a game to him. Dad is almost begging at this point. “Stop, thank you,” he says. But the cat just paws at him again. Dad yelps and calls him a “nutter” because he is being so persistent.
One viewer joked that the cat thinks every “no” is just a high-five invitation. He just keeps going back for more. Then he jumps on top and starts kneading the fabric. Both humans start yelling. It is too much for one afternoon.
By the end, Dad is just resigned. He rubs his eyes under his glasses while the furniture gets wrecked. One person said the sofa is basically a giant scratching post. It is a tough battle to win when the opponent has claws and a huge attitude. At least it makes for a funny story.
