If your cat follows you around, Chai, a doll-faced Persian who is her owner’s shadow, is no different. An adorable Instagram video from @chai.fans shows the one-year-old cat doing what she apparently does best — escorting her owner out of the room as if she gets paid for it. The on-screen caption says it happens “Every time I get out of my room.”
Cat loves following owner everywhere
In the video, the cat follows along and keeps close beside her owner’s feet. Every few steps, she tilts her round face up, watching her owner’s legs move like she is waiting for instructions, a treat, or maybe just the next stop on the tour. Chai stays calm and stays committed to staying within her owner’s reach.
The owner captioned the post, “The type of attention we all should get,” and people in the comment section showed solidarity for those living with clingy cats. One viewer joked, “I’ve a stalker at home.” Meanwhile, another chimed in with the most relatable warning for anyone who has mistakenly almost stepped over a pet, commenting, “Atleast she letting you walk . She just keeps rubbing herself to me as I walk. So afraid to trip over.”
Others called the cat “A little follower,” and another joked, “You gotta pay security tax.”
As for why Chai does it, cat behavior experts often point to a need to bond and curiosity, along with cats’ tendency to memorize routines quickly. So, if your cat notices that you leaving the room often leads to something interesting, including food, play, attention, or even just a new spot to inspect, they might start tagging along. And some cats stick close because your presence makes them feel safe, especially in a busy home.
Whatever the reason, Chai makes it look like the best kind of problem to have is when a fluffy cat follows their owner wherever they go. After all, who would not want such an adorable companion?
