Polite Cat Has Been Commuting On The Train Alone Since 2013

The commute can get pretty hectic on trains in Tokyo, Japan. But one commuter makes it a little bit more fun. A mysterious cat has been spotted by lots of passengers on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, and apparently the feline has been a regular commuter since 2013.

No one is sure who the cat belongs to, as it is never accompanied by an owner, and it’s not clear where the cat is from or where it is going. But it seems to board all by itself and sits very politely, leaving plenty of room for other passengers to sit down. Sometimes it even nods off to sleep as the train carries it along.

Normally cats are required to be in carriers to prevent them from causing a problem with passengers who have allergies or simply don’t want to get covered in cat hair. But this kitty seems to live above the rules, and no one seems to have much of a problem with that. The commuter cat continues to ride the rails to the delight of its fellow passengers.

What would you do if you saw a cat on a train? Would you sit next to it? Let us know in the comments below!
