Who would have thought that a toothless, deformed kitten who was the runt of her litter would become one of the most famous cats on the Internet? Maybe you’ve seen her — she goes by the name of Lil Bub.
Sure, you’ve probably seen the memes of the adorable little feline, along with Grumpy Cat, Keyboard Cat, Nyan Cat, and others on the Internet, but chances are people know very little about these animals other than their easily recognizable mugs.
Lil Bub and Friendz, a documentary slated to make its debut at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 17-28, takes an in-depth look at the titular feline and features interviews with her owner, footage from various media tours and appearances, and shows how the power of Internet viral video can make the seeming innocuous and unfortunate an overnight sensation.
Co-directed by Juliette Eisner and Andy Capper and presented by Vice Films, the 65-minute feature film is sure to become a can’t-miss item for cat lovers. The official trailer follows:
