Taylor Swift delighted fans with a new glimpse into life with her famously furry entourage during a December 2025 appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” While discussing the whirlwind pace of her globe-spanning schedule, Swift revealed that her youngest cat, Benjamin Button, has developed a very specific and adorable habit: he refuses to sleep anywhere but on her pillow.
Taylor Swift says cat Benjamin Button is ‘really attached to her pillow’
Stephen Colbert held up a photo of her cat, Benjamin Button, curled up on top of Taylor Swift’s head, prompting laughter from the audience. She confirmed the image was extremely accurate to his everyday behavior. “He’s really, really attached to my pillow, wherever that may be, in whatever country that is,” Swift said.
Benjamin, a Ragdoll known for his relaxed and affectionate temperament, joined Swift’s family in 2019 after appearing as a tiny kitten in her “ME!” music video. The singer adopted him on the spot. He has since become a prominent fixture in her public and personal life. The fluffy, blue-eyed feline has appeared in countless social media posts. He also landed one of the alternate covers for Swift’s TIME 2023 Person of the Year issue.
Swift has never hesitated to make her cats part of her public persona, and fans adore her for it. All three felines, Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button, have appeared repeatedly on her social media pages. They have even featured in a few of her music videos. The Grammy winner has also credited her cats with influencing her career choices.
In 2019, she told TIME, “I have cats. I’m obsessed with them. I love my cats so much that when a role came up in a movie called Cats, I just thought, I gotta do this.” She even attended a “cat school” on set to prepare for the role.
Swift has spoken many times about why she feels such a strong connection to cats. She told TIME, “They’re very dignified. They’re independent. They’re very capable of dealing with their own life.”
