On Monday, a woman browsing through the animals at the Capital Area Humane Society stole a kitty in Lansing, Michigan. The surveillance camera caught the incident, showing the suspect forcing open a locked cage to steal a kitten from the shelter. According to WILX, She proceeded to tuck the feline under her coat and then quickly left the building.

The Humane Society posted the video to its Facebook account on Tuesday, July 2, and has since removed it. However, the shelter uploaded a follow-up post noting that the kitten would be back with them soon. The organization had been made aware of the suspect’s identity, which helped them safely retrieve the feline. However, the Capital Area Humane Society hasn’t provided further information about the incident.

In a similar case, on June 24, two foster kittens were stolen along with the SUV they were in. The incident took place in Denver, Colorado, while the foster parent had stepped out of the vehicle for a little bit. However, she returned to her SUV, phone, purse, and the beloved foster kittens missing.

Unfortunately, the Colorado incident wasn’t resolved as smoothly. The foster parent has since filed a report with the police and is waiting to hear back from them about the little ones. The co-founder of Colorado Feline Foster Rescue, Kris Meding, told KDVR, “Stepped out of the car for a minute to grab something else, came back and the car was gone with her purse, her phone, and the kittens in it.”
