Special Needs Cat Of The Week: Arrow

Be warned: This week’s profile of a cat who’s been rescued from a tumultuous situation contains graphic pictures. If I tell you that the feline in question is named Arrow, you might be able to guess what sort of horrid injuries she endured.

Yep, Arrow was a cat who was shot with a bow and arrow by a despicable human.

Thankfully, Arrow is being helped over her trauma by the fine folks at the Joseph’s Legacy Rescue in Middletown, Ohio.

Arrow’s story begins when this stray kitty was shot with a long arrow. When her predicament was noticed, it still took a week to successfully trap her. As an update on the Joseph’s Legacy Facebook page explains, “We had to be creative in trapping her because with the arrow being about 12-inches she couldn’t go into a live trap nor could we scruff her.”

Instead, the use of a dog crate with a couple of bowls of food and water inside it eventually lured this black and white feline towards safety.

Under examination, Arrow’s wound was found to be “gaping.” Coupled with the damp weather, her entry and exit wounds had to be “stretched out” to properly ward off any infection. But Arrow came through her medical procedures like a trooper.

While she’s been recovering from her ordeal at Joseph’s Legacy, Arrow has revealed herself to be a sweet kitty who’s receptive to human warmth and attention. This is despite having been cruelly abused only a few weeks prior.

Arrow has also bonded with a sizable canine at the organization, and the two of them have enjoyed spending fall days lounging around together.

Unfortunately, the heartless human who shot Arrow is still out there and at large — but while Arrow takes further steps towards a full recovery, you can donate to her cause via the rescue.
